WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM CTAB CERTIFICATION?
HVAC and related company owners interested in establishing or upgrading a test and balance business. Facility or building managers or engineers charged with balancing for occupancy comfort, process function, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency. Test and balance engineers, managers, supervisors, or lead technicians who desire certification for professional advancement or need a review course in preparation of other certification.
TO BE A CANDIDATE FOR CTAB PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT CERTIFICATION
1) Submit application with resume or curriculum vitae, and verification of employment.
2) Participate in a CTAB Certification webinar or complete the self-study course. 3) Meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
• A four-year engineering degree with one year in HVAC testing and balancing.
• A four-year business or technical degree with two years in HVAC testing and balancing.
• A two-year HVAC or related technical degree with two years in HVAC testing and balancing.
• Three years field, managerial or engineering employment in HVAC testing and balancing.
4) Pass the CTAB exam. CTAB examination questions are based on concepts and experiences basic to testing-adjusting-balancing using recognized TAB standards and methods. Exam covers air and water systems and equipment, as well as electrical and the controls associated with TAB. Exam is open book. Questions are a mixture of multiple choice and true-false. Candidates must answer 70% of questions correctly in order to achieve a passing score.
